We’re Talking Battery Storage: It’s Like Lok ‘n’ Store For Green Energy

08th November 2022

If you’re one of the ever growing community of forward-thinking property owners who have made the leap to generating your own, clean, renewable energy - or if you’re still on the fence and weighing up your options - one thing you mustn’t overlook is our Powervault battery storage system.

Why Battery Storage?

Historically, when power has been or is generated, it has been utilised almost immediately by any electrical devices or equipment that may be connected. The implication of this has always been that generators, such as a wind turbine, are only of any use if it’s windy outside, or you can only run equipment from a solar array during the daytime as the energy is generated.

These inhibitions clearly diminish the effectiveness and efficiency of the power generating system and, therefore, have a direct impact on your return on investment and any savings you could be making from using free energy - particularly as, when the clean energy isn’t being generated, you are then fully reliant on power supplied by the Grid.

Installing a battery storage system revolutionises the way you can harness the free energy that you generate, when you use it, and how much you have to pay to the utility companies.

Introducing Powervault

At this point then it seems only right to introduce you to Powervault, our flagship battery storage solution. Powervault unlocks the true potential of any solar PV array or wind turbine by storing the generated energy for you to use when you need it most. Not only that, but you can even store energy from the grid when it is available at a cheaper rate (it’s so good, it feels a bit sneaky, but it’s all above board, we promise!).

Designed and manufactured in the UK since 2012, they offer intelligent, economic, and sustainable energy storage for both your home or business.

Get to Know Powervault

There’s lots of reasons why we love Powervault, and why you will too.

  • A true British company founded in 2012, headquartered in London
  • Powervault smart energy systems help customers to lower their electricity bills, gain electricity security, and also reduce their carbon footprint
  • Working with energy suppliers and National Grid, Powervault aim to reduce dependency on fossil fuels by transferring energy demand during peak times
  • The company has won multiple awards such as the edie Sustainability Leaders Awards 2020 (‘Product Innovation of the Year’) as well as EDF Energy Blue Lab Challenge 2018 (Winner) and the Japan Energy Challenge 2018 (Winner).

Powervault Variations

There are two variations to choose from, these being the Powervault 3, and the Powervault 3 Eco. The standard Powervault 3 uses high-performance Lithium-polymer (Li-MNC) cells, offers a long service life, and comes with a ten year warranty. The Eco variant is the more economical option, using recycled Lithium-manganese-oxide (LMO) cells from electric vehicles, and is supplied with a three year warranty.

Features and Benefits

Fully compatible with all solar PV systems

Powervault works in conjunction with any existing or new solar PV or wind turbine system and works with AC power. Therefore, no additional parts or modifications are required in order to install the Powervault battery storage system. So, if you’re reading this, having already installed a green energy generating solution, you’re not stuck with an outdated system. You can upgrade any time.

Rapid installation

A trained professional can install the Powervault system in less than four hours. Powervault is an ‘all in one’ system which comprises the complete suite of batteries, a Battery Management System, an Energy Management System, and the various associated control boards. All of this included tech means that customers are not required to purchase or install additional hardware beyond the additional Powervault installation. So, you can sit back, relax, then switch on.

Versatile Expansion

With its modular and scalable design, you can expand your battery storage system from 4kWh all the way up to 20 kWh so that you’re always able to lock away the energy to meet your present and future needs.

Lowered CO2

The Powervault company works in conjunction with the National Physical Laboratory in order to gain a better understanding of the positive impact that using a Powervault system has on greenhouse emissions. Their combined calculations found that Powervault 3 and Powervault Compact will reduce CO2 emissions by more than 300kg per year in the average UK home - depending on the capacity of the system.

Mobile App Support

You can monitor your battery storage operation using the Powervault Portal in real-time; not only this but you can also make sure you’re using the cheapest electricity from the grid by optimising the charging cycles through the Smart Tariff Optimisation feature.

The Powervault Portal can be accessed via any device through either an ethernet or wireless connection and provides you with a comprehensive visualisation of your charging, discharging, energy generation, and usage in real time.

You can keep ahead of the curve by analysing any trends that are reported throughout the historic data too.

Safety by Design

All Powervault systems have been designed to be safe to use in both domestic and commercial premises. For further peace of mind, all systems are tested extensively and carry EMC and CE certification.

Dependable Support

Powervault takes pride in offering proper customer service and endeavours to answer questions and queries relating to their products.

Battery Storage:  Clear Benefits, Big Savings, Healthier Planet

As you can see, having a Powervault battery storage system installed by UK Energi achieves so much more than storing electricity. By adding this revolutionary infrastructure to your power generation system, you’re squeezing every volt of power from your turbine or PV array, making the most of every penny you spend on energy - and doing vital work in protecting both your local environment as well as the entire planet.

Put that way, it’s hard to find a reason not to upgrade and future proof your home with a Powervault battery storage system. So, what are you waiting for? Get in touch with us today and start saving for tomorrow!
